Located in a leafy New Jersey suburb just 30 minutes outside New York City, Seton Hall University is the heart of a close knit community of over 10,000 students, staff and alumni. Every day many of them come together in the university’s historic Richie Regan Recreational and Athletic Center.
As part of the its on-going mission to every member of the Seton Hall family, the university “significantly expanded and upgraded the fitness center,” according to University President Gabriel Esteban, adding “we are thrilled to see students, staff and alumni taking full advantage of this great new space on campus.

A single use recreation center becomes much more.
In addition to the expanded fitness center, one of the most important aspects of the University’s 15-month project was in transforming the Richard and Shelia Reagan Fieldhouse, adjacent to the fitness center from a single use center into a full service student building with a weight area, dance area, training area and health and wellness center.
 
 
Some things don’t need to change. Like the flooring.
While the project took many years to plan, design and execute, the University’s 20 + year history with Mondo flooring made the choice of flooring easy. While spikes will eventually tear up any floor, requiring replacement every 10 to 14 years, Seton Hall found their existing Mondo tracks, both indoor and outdoor, to be not only beautiful, but exceptionally durable as well.
Throughout both the fitness center and the field house, the University installed a variety of flooring systems, including Mondo track, an Airzone wood floor system, and more.
The field house was extensively remodeled using Mondo flooring to resurface both the indoor track and the basketball courts which are used daily by students and faculty alike for casual pick-up games and intramural games.
 
 
You’ll find Mondo flooring in nearly every recreation room at Seton Hall.
• Mondo Sport Impact flooring (installed by Mathusek) in the weight area on the 3rd floor of the field house.
• Airzone wood floor system (installed by Mathusek) in the dance area on the 4th floor of the field house.
• An advanced sport impact flooring (installed by Mathusek) in the basement training room of the field house.
