  In an open letter to Architects, the MFMA recommended moving away from 33/32" maple strip flooring.   Current studies have shown that we need to rethink using this thicker wood size. 33/32" was the standard for many years in the Maple Flooring Industry.  It could take 8-10 sandings and moved the life cycle of the floor to 60+ years.  25/32" provides 4-6 sandings with a regular maintenance schedule and the floor can last upwards of 40 years.
